Based in Phoenix Arizona luthier Jason Kostal set up independently following four years teaching at the prestigious Roberto-Venn School of Luthery and an extended three-year apprenticeship with Ervin Somogyi.
His work reflects the pedigree of his mentor in attention to detail, finesse of line and responsive voicing. The sound of a Kostal guitar however is uniquely his, warm, powerful and musical.
Kostal Modified Dreadnought #31 in Madagascar Rosewood and German Spruce was the first North American luthier-built guitar to be awarded 5-stars in all categories in a review by Acoustic Magazine. That same guitar is currently on show at the Musical Instrument Museum in Arizona.
