A New Kraut Nouveau 00 Arrives

We have just received our second new guitar from luthier Raymond Kraut. This rather gorgeous instrument is Ray's Nouveau 00 in Tasmanian Tiger Myrtle & Swiss Moon Spruce.
This guitar is the first Nouveau model to leave his workshop, and is a design that has been built to change the way we think about the traditional acoustic guitar.
"Our notion of the acoustic guitar is deeply rooted in history and tradition," explains Raymond. "The Nouveau series makes no compromises. The tone is what you have come to expect from a Kraut guitar: full of sustain, rich treble through the highest note, clean and clear midrange, and robust bass with a broad dynamic range. This new line of guitars is an evolution of my building experience and elevates the art and craft to a new level."

Expanding on the influence for this specific build, Raymond continues, "This 00 features a stunning set of Swiss Moon Spruce that I personally selected in Switzerland. It's paired with an equally beautiful set of Tazmanian Tiger Myrtle for the back and sides. The Myrtle has a very immediate, delicate tonal response that is like a cross between Brazilian Rosewood and Koa."
"It responds great as a small-bodied guitar and has volume and responsiveness equal to any OO. The biggest benefit, aside from it being very lightweight, is that the size of the sound port allows the player to receive most of that response. A stunning and unique instrument that reimagines the art that is the guitar."
The guitar features an exquisite soundhole and soundport design, which is Raymond's approach to seeing beyond the traditional round soundhole.

"Art has always been one of the most important passions in my life. It's why when I first got started in this field that I wanted to express myself through inlay. Whether it was a rosette a neck inlay or an end graft, Ive always inlayed unique one of a kind designs never to be reproduced. My interests has now pushed me beyond typical form. We are so used to seeing a sound hole on a guitar that is directly between the fret board and bridge but my hope is to invigorate your imagination to see the possibility beyond the circle."

"I'm excited with every inlay design I do, however, this one was of special interest to me as I see myself crossing over into a new chapter of Kraut Guitars. I have a need to explore new possibilities for design wether it's for player needs and tonal possibilities or simply for aesthetic value. This is a first of its kind and I hope it's as interesting to all of you as it is to me."
