Casimi incoming build pics - Ziricote and Wengé
We caught up with Mathias Roux and Matthew Rice of Casimi Guitars this week and they sent us some wonderful pics of the next two guitars that they are building for us!
The C1 signature has reached the rosette planning stage. All Casimi signature guitars feature a unique carved and inlaid rosette inspired by the place of origin of the back and sides woods. In this case that is central America and Matthew Rice has been looking at ancient Mayan and Aztec codices for inspiration...
You can learn more about the process of designing a signature rosette in this video
Here you can see the Adirondack Spruce soundboard with the brass rosette template in place.
And here is the spectacular ziricote used for the body of the instrument.
The box is almost ready. Note the solid kerfing and the support for the arm bevel.
Casimi Guitars are superbly clean inside.
Here's Matthias Roux with the German Spruce soundboard of our C2 signature.
Wengé has an amazing tap tone, this set has very similar sonic properties to a 150 year old set of Brazilian that Matthew and Matthias have in their stash.
The Wengé back and sides have been joined and you can see the Indian Rosewood inner sides in this image. The Spanish style heel adds stability and strength to the neck joint.
We're thinking about a dark stain on the wengé... what do you think?
