Fairbanks F20 S has just arrived!
Any week that includes the arrival of a Fairbanks Nick Lucas is a good week here at TNAG! Dale Fairbanks is one of the world's foremost restorers of 1920's and 30's Gibson guitars and he brings an unequaled wealth of knowledge to his own builds. In this case we have a 1929 style Nick Lucas in Honduran Mahogany and Adirondack Spruce.
As always, with a Fairbanks guitar, the sunburst is spectacular. The deep, rich colours show the natural beauty of the wood through the hand-sprayed finish.
The subtle glitter purfling on the edges of the soundboard and sound hole rosette works beautifully with the ivoroid body and fretboard binding.
With its mahogany back and sides and Spanish Cedar neck and tail blocks this is a light weight and extremely responsive instrument with a growling bass. The trebles are smooth and woody, perfect for blues and Americana.
A Macassar Ebony headstock cap goes so well with a rosewood fretboard...
