Going Electric: Maybach Teleman

In this week's Going Electric feature, we take a closer look at Maybach's take on one of the most iconic solid body electric guitars in history, with the two iterations in the video being their core-line, rosewood 'boarded sunburst Teleman alongside their gorgeous Custom Shop version of the Teleman in a Red Rooster Aged finish.

In plugging in these two versatile workhorses, it became very quickly apparent that these were two very different approaches to the classic 'T-style' format. With the standard Teleman having a more traditional spank and twang and the Custom Shop Teleman providing a smoother, more rounded tone.

One of the main contributors of course is the difference in pickups, with the Standard model sporting a lovely, classic set of Amber Twangtone pickups and the Custom Shop powered by a set of inspiring Van Zandt True Vintage pickups, between the two showcasing a diverse range from Maybach under one silhouette.

Maybach Custom Shop Teleman T61 Electric Guitar, Red Rooster Aged - £1,750

This wonderful Maybach Custom Shop Teleman T61 in Red Rooster is a fantastically made iteration of one of the most iconic and versatile solid body workhorses in history.
In classic 60s style, the guitar is made up out of Alder for the body with a Rosewood topped Maple neck. The double binding on the body gives the guitar an inherently custom feel and alongside other finer appointments makes for a very elegant rendition of Maybach's Teleman model.
The neck has a fairly chunky profile that is incredibly comfortable in the hand, and with the 7.25" radius certainly feels the part for the vintage feeling Maybach aim to capture.
The guitar features a set of Van Zandt True Vintage Single Coil pickups that absolutely nail the iconic twang and snap of a good vintage T-style guitar with enough bite to be thoroughly inspiring with a slightly hotter amp.
The instrument is finished in Nitrocellulose Lacquer and tastefully aged to top off the vintage aesthetic, with cracking and subtle wear giving the guitar a warm 'played in' feeling right out of the case.
The guitar comes with a Maybach Luxury Hardcase.
