Introducing Frank Hartung

Frank Hartung is the model electric guitar master builder. Everything, from cutting the wood to stringing and setting up the guitar and playing the first few notes, is done by Frank. And that’s the way it’s been for over 15 years. This period has seen Frank Hartung’s reputation increase exponentially to become one of the most recognised and respected luthiers in Europe.

Frank Hartung

Frank combines the tradition of electric guitar building with modern approaches and appointments, from his unusual Enigma and Caligo models to his more traditional single-cut Sephir, Junico and Embrace models.

Frank uses tone woods of the highest quality, with pickups by some of Germany’s best makers, and combines these with his own unique designs to create some of the finest looking, sounding and playing electric guitars available today.

We are delighted to be representing Frank’s work here in the UK, and we have just received our first two Hartung guitars from Frank:

Frank Hartung Embrace Custom Electic Guitar, Golden Tiger Finish - £8,250

The Embrace model is a modern instrument taking its influence from classic single cut designs. This guitar features a set of Exhibition-grade woods, including a Mahogany body with a Quilted Maple top, a stained Curly Maple neck topped by a Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard, bound in Maple.

In the electronics department, Frank has used a pair of our favourite pickups, the Haussel 1959 humbuckers, controlled by two Volumes, two Tones and a three-way selector switch.

The guitar features silver hardware including Schaller locking tuners, a Tune-0-Matic bridge and an Alu stop tail tailpiece, with Ebony knobs, pots and pickup rings.

The guitar benefits from Frank Hartung’s unusual body and headstock carves, and a gorgeous Golden Tiger finish.
