Just Arrived: A five-star spectacle from the TV Jones Spectra range
Five new TV Jones Spectra Sonic models arrive in Nashville. Let’s see what the renowned pickup maker has in store for us…
Although being synonymous with aftermarket repros of vintage Gretsch pickups, TV Jones (or Thomas V Jones) is responsible for a range of superlative electric guitars too. We’ve been representing the brand for more than a year now and our first batch of Spectra Sonics (both the Supreme and Standards) flew out the door. So we ordered another three Spectra Sonic Supreme models, a Spectra Sonic Standard (the Standard doesn’t have the Bigsby while the Supremes do), and a super interesting Spectra Sonic C Baritone.
The Spectra Sonics have a single cutaway chambered semi-hollow Alder body with a maple top and neck. They have articulate trebles, with high-end sparkle and punch, whilst the Ebony fretboard adds to its fast and responsive nature.
These guitars come fitted with TV Jones' own TV Classic pickups, which are based on the Filter’Tron™ pickups from the '50s and '60s. The combination of these pickups and the famous Bigsby B-12 vibrato tailpiece (on the Supremes) gives the guitar a classic vintage Gretsch-like tone, making it a great guitar for rock, pop, jazz, blues and country.
Let’s take a look at each of the new models in some lovely finishes…
