Kostal MDW Exhibition model just arrived! (Manchinga / German Spruce)!
This upsettingly beautiful presentation grade MDW by Jason Kostal has just arrived at TNAG HQ!
This, for the uninitiated, is Manchinga, perhaps the most visually striking of the rosewood family (well, second cousin... it's not a Dalbergia). It comes from Peru and in this case it's topped off with a beautiful German Spruce soundboard.
The MDW model features a 12-fret black neck as standard, a nod to the late 19th Century romantic guitars that inspired it.
As always we have a stunning "Stained Glass" rosette and for the first time a parallel line fretboard inlay. This guitar was built specially for this year's NAMM show. We just had to have it...
The MDW was designed to be an extremely expressive and nuanced instrument, the 12-fret construction, 25" scale length and bridge position all ensure that the tonal and dynamic spectrums are as wide as possible.
You can't go wrong with a 2-tone headstock... especially with a laminated and scalloped nut.
