Lars Rasmussen delivers his Model O & C Guitars

I have said this time and time again (so forgive me if I am repeating myself) but the bespoke guitar building process has to be one of the most wonderful journeys a player, collector and dealer can go through.

From the hours of researching, watching videos, drooling over images, reading reviews on line; to the initial contact with a dealer or luthier directly, the first photos of the woods you want to build with, and the finalisation of your exact specs, ergonomic requirements, nut width, string spacing, finish, to the long wait for the delivery of the final product and striking the first note, it does not get any better!

So when a client reaches out and asks you to build a pair of guitars from one luthier in sister sets of one of the world's most desirable tonewoods, it feels like Christmas come early! And this is exactly what happened with our dear friend and Swedish master luthier Lars Rasmussen and the pair of phenomenal O & C models that just arrived at The North American Guitar showroom.

But before we dive into the specs of these outrageous instruments, let's just take a deeper look into the man behind them, Mr Lars Rasmussen.

Ask anyone in the luthier industry to name their favourite builders and Lars Rasmussen will be heard over and over again and, with fans including the likes of Dana Bourgeois, Jason Kostal and John Slobod, Lars is not only highly sought after by customers, but admired by his peers. He is building guitars that will not just stop you in your tracks with their voice but have you in awe of the craftsmanship and elegance of their lines and purity of their presence. Offering a stunning mix of all the skills and voicing techniques from a modern luthier-built instrument, mixed with a vintage and classic look and feel, they are understated and quite simply, beautiful.

"Lars Rasmussen is an incredible guitar builder in Sweden that is making some of the most beautifully clean and tonally articulate guitars that I have ever played…" - Jason Kostal

"My shop is located in my home, in the small town of Östertälje, just 30 minutes south of Stockholm. Its about 60sqm, half of it is located downstairs in the basement and that's where I do all the woodwork and things that create dust. Upstairs, I have remodelled an attached garage which is a dust free space where I have a spray booth and also do all post-finish work, like polishing and setups etc. It's so nice to have the shop in my house, i used to rent a space in central Stockholm, where I had about an hour to commute each way. Now I have about 10 seconds, which is great." - Lars Rasmussen
