Leonard Cohen 1934-2016

We were extremely saddened to hear of the passing of one of the great singer/songwriters of our time, the poet Leonard Cohen. His astonishingly beautiful, and often unsettling songs supported by apparently simple (but actually extremely sophisticated) nylon string work were a source of huge inspiration to guitarists the world over.

Leonard Cohen's music has been a vital part of my musical universe for as long as I can remember. I even found myself drifting into the chord sequence from Famous Blue Raincoat during an improvised section in a demo concert for Spalt Guitars at the Holy Grail Guitar Show in Berlin last month and it made me smile.

Here's his haunting masterpiece "Suzanne" as fresh and otherworldly as the day it was first recorded.

Thank you Leonard Cohen. Rest In Peace.
