New Arrivals from James Trussart
As guitarists, we're always excited when a new delivery of guitars arrives, but four new arrivals from James Trussart got us particularly hot under the collar.
These were eagerly anticipated, and they did not disappoint! Four Deluxe SteelCasters with wonderful finishes and an array of pickup variations, we're sure they won't hang around for long!
Why you need a Trussart in your life….
James Trussart oozes cool! Not just the fact that his guitars are played by some of the world's best players and that they look and feel incredible, but he is one of the few builders to truly break the mould of traditional guitar building! And that is very cool!
Based out in Los Angeles, California, the French native began his career as a fiddle player accompanying Zachary Richards (Cajun Singer-Songwriter) before turning his hand to crafting violins and, later in the 1980s, guitars. Trussart crafts steel-based custom guitars in an array of dazzling finishes, from cream, shell pink, ocean blue bodies on engraved roses or snake skin scratch plates, to textures of alligator skin or plant materials (yes he literally ’sandwiches the metal with alligator skin and lets it sit in water for seven days) to rusty steel that has been buried in the ground for weeks at a time.
“I've always liked the look and feel of old guitars, believing them to have a life beyond that of their creator, and I wanted to somehow emulate that effect of age and history on my own guitars," says James. "I wanted to make a guitar that came with a history and a slight element of neglect, of decay, so it had a personality of its own.”
But the guitar doesn’t stop there, as wonderful as the look and feel of each guitar is, I personally think it is the tone that really sets his guitars apart from most luthiers in the electric guitar arena. A punchy, metallic, warm tone delivered by every guitar has set the path for Trussart guitars to become the ‘must have’ in many a legendary player's rack, including Bob Dylan, Keith Richards, Paul Simon, Eric Clapton, Jack White, Joe Perry plus many many more.
