New Baranik B1s Have Landed!

The Winter NAMM show in January this year seems like a lifetime ago, before COVID-19 was the primary topic of global news headlines, but it signified the last time that our luthiers were able to convene in person to showcase their craft. It also signified the first time that we were able to get our hands on a Baranik B1 model, and it was two of them in fact, that we bought at the show and received into our showroom a few weeks later.

Both guitars sold incredibly quickly, and we're delighted to have just taken delivery of two more of these wonderful electrics.
Mike Baranik is renowned for his exceptional acoustic guitars, but it's his B1 model that signalled his foray into the world of electrics, and boy are we glad Mike decided to design the B1!
Inspired by Mike Baranik’s love for old school surf rock music, and the quirky vintage guitars that are synonymous with it, the Baranik B1 is a modern take on these retro wonders. Baranik took all of the aspects that he loved about these vintage instruments and produced a guitar that meets the needs of a modern player.
The B1's Basswood body and Maple neck are met with a completely unique headstock design that utilises a reverse headstock string pull. This design increases the tension on the bass strings while lowering the tension on the treble strings, producing more defined lows and higher strings that are easier to bend. This is complemented by the British-made, psychedelic Mojo pickups. With its slim C neck, and 14” radius, the Baranik B1 effortlessly captures the funky, retro vibe of the ’60s while providing a player with modern enhancements and reliability.

One of the most refreshing aspects of the small workshop world is seeing each builder keep pushing their boundaries and striving for innovative and unexplored ways to build and inspire. The B1 is a great example of this, looking like it was pulled right out of Roswell, with the build quality and staggering attention to detail we've always been so fond of in Mike's work very much present and at its finest in these versatile instruments.

Although both feature the distinctive new body shape and instantly iconic headstock, the range on display between the two instruments is a joy to behold and interact with, with a similar ethos in the clarity and detail of their tones amid distinctly differing outputs and draws.

We've been blown away on our journey so far with this remarkable pair, and cannot wait to see where Mike's vision takes us all going into the future with this brand new lineup.
