New Collings Guitars Arrive In Our Showroom

We've seen a fantastic new bunch of instruments arrive in our showroom from Collings, including two stunning I-35 electrics, as well as some of our most popular Collings acoustics. We enlisted the talents of Mr Carl Miner, a man who knows Collings instruments very well, to showcase these fantastic new arrivals. Without further ado, let's dive into what's new!


Collings I-35 Electric Guitar, Faded Cherry - $6,025

This Collings I-35 is an exemplary representation of what has quickly become one of Collings’ most popular electric models. With a beautiful highly figured flamed maple top in faded cherry, solid Honduran mahogany construction, a highly arched top carve, and a meticulously hand-sanded nitrocellulose lacquer measuring under .007”, this I-35 allows only the best qualities of it’s carefully selected tone woods to shine through.

While classic in aesthetic and design with its 50’s style wiring, and its pair of Lollar Low Wind Imperial Humbuckers, this vintage vibe guitar has a place in nearly every genre. The I-35 provides endless tonal and acoustical response, an exceptionally musical feel and touch sensitivity, as well as beautiful harmonic content and note definition, making this guitar an impeccable choice for any style of player.

Collings I-35 Deluxe Electric Guitar, Tobacco Sunburst - $7,675

This I-35 Deluxe is the spiffier big brother of the standard I-35, and this example sports a beautiful quilted maple top, as well as Collings’ signature take on parallelogram fretboard inlays. The result is a guitar that gives a nod to its inspiration, while still retaining its own unique style.

Collings City Limits Electric Guitar, Cherry Sunburst - $5,250

Collings never fails to breathe new life into classic designs.  With its solid Honduran Mahogany body, hand-selected Eastern Flamed Maple top, and a carefully hand-set mortise and tenon neck joint, this Collings City Limits brings tonal complexity and sustain to the table in spades. 

Through rigorous hand sanding between coats, Collings achieves a nitrocellulose lacquer finish that measures between .005-.007” in thickness. Due to its thin lacquer, the Collings City Limits produces an excellent acoustic response, all while maintaining great protection. The City Limits is equipped with a pair of Lollar Imperial humbuckers to capture its airy top end and balanced midrange; delivering a tight bass response, complex overtones, and full-bodied character.  All within a sleekly contoured body, Collings had added comfort and style to an American classic.

Collings 00-2HA Acoustic Guitar, Indian Rosewood & Adirondack Spruce - $6,025

This elegant 00 from Collings is a truly magnificent example of the wonders they can achieve in such a simple and understated format.

Finding its roots in traditional and vintage 12-fret 00 sized guitars, this delightful instrument really comes into its own when you start to hone in on quality and construction. 

With a gorgeous set of Indian rosewood for the back and sides and an Adirondack Spruce top with notably stunning grain and color, the minimalistic lines of this guitar are set into an inspiring foundation indeed. 

This iconic combination of tonewoods, in tandem with the 12-fret neck join, makes for a very warm, full-bodied tone with a sensitive dynamic range and all the rich overtones you would be right to expect from a stellar 00.

The guitar plays smooth and comfortable across the board, with heaps of sustain and lovely low action.

The guitar comes with a Collings branded TKL Hardcase.

Collings OM-1A Traditional Acoustic Guitar, Honduran Mahogany & Torrefied Adirondack Spruce - $6,450


Collings Traditional Series guitars offer a vintage-inspired take on the distinctive sound Collings guitars are known for, with the tonewoods and braces being adjusted for weight and thickness to give exceptional projection, warm trebles, and strong mids.

The extra-thin nitro finish allows for the natural sound of the tonewoods to shine. This OM-1A Traditional, with its torrefied Adirondack top, is exceptional and one of our favorite guitars in the shop.

Collings MT Custom Mandolin, Baked Sitka Spruce & Maple - $3,650

The Collings MT is the company’s entry-level A-model mandolin. However, it receives the same craftsmanship and attention to detail one would expect from a high-end Collings instrument. This example is upgraded with a baked Sitka Spruce top under a gloss finish. The baked top makes this mandolin open and responsive, with the character of an instrument with a decade’s-worth of playing-time.

This mandolin has become a shop favorite due to its volume, sweet tone. and excellent playability. It has great chop, and could easily sit in with a bluegrass jam without getting lost in the mix. It also sounds right at home when played in a more melodic style, with each note leaping out of the instrument with a bell-like tonal quality.
