New Frank Bros Signature Model Hand Delivered by Tim & Nick Frank!
We had an incredibly busy week here at TNAG last week, but when the showroom is filled with great people and great music I have to admit it doesn’t feel like work!
Building relationships with our luthiers and their brands is one of the most important factors to our business. We take great pride in who we represent and their work. So getting to know them and understanding their beliefs and passions for what they do is key for how we help market their guitars and build their brand here in the UK.
And this week we got to meet two of the newest members of our luthier roster, Tim and Nick Frank from Frank Brothers Guitar Company.
Tim Frank (left) and his twin brother Nick (centre), with their older brother and business partner, Jon Frank (right).
Tim and Nick had flown over especially to London to meet with one of the UK’s most popular music exports to discuss a possible artist endorsement deal for their new album. The sheer fact that these guys got on a plane to hand deliver their guitars to the artist I think just shows the level of passion they have for their brand.
Over a Nando's, several coffees and maybe one or two beers, I got to listen and learn about the start of Frank Bros. Coming from an incredible musical heritage in their family it was very clear from an early age that both Nick and Tim were going to do something in music. Both fantastic guitar players, their passion for music has run deep in their family for generations.
Their grandfather, Philip Frank, was a critically acclaimed violinist having played a Stradivarius and Guarneri for many performance, and their father, Jim Frank, was an award winning recording engineer in music, television and film working with artists such as Alice Cooper and Peter Gabriel, winning many awards (Gemini Award, a Golden Reel Award and a Double Platinum Record). So it was no wonder that, when they start building guitars, it was going to lead to great things.
But starting a guitar company is no easy feat! Both Tim and Nick worked full time day jobs doing repairs and set up work, and then spend late nights drawing and developing the guitar they were hoping to one day call a Frank Brothers guitar.
“we used to sketch out drawings and then send them to each other secretly at work. Tim drew this awesome shape and sent it to me … so I tweaked and modified it on a napkin and sent it back. That was the first sketch of our Signature model we have out today…” Nick Frank.
After many many hours searching for the tone they were looking for, and mixing combination after combination of pick up options, the Frank Brothers Signature model was born. A beautiful mix of vintage and modern!
We are extremely excited to represent Frank Brothers Guitars and expect to see great things from this wonderful family business in the future…and if you have not yet tried one just drop us a line here and pop into the showroom. They are awesome!
