New Kostal Guitars Model - The MDW!
The Kostal Guitars MDW model has arrived! The results of a 5-year research and development project with luthier Jason Kostal, the MDW has the benefits of both the Modified Dreadnought and OO models and is a mid-size alternative to the OM model aimed at the contemporary fingerstyle player!
This first example of the MDW model is made from astonishingly beautiful Quilted Birdseye Maple and German Spruce with inner sides of Ebony. The neck is Honduran Mahogany with a black finish to match the Ebony bindings.
The signature Kostal "Stained Glass" rosette is made from dyed burls and Ebony. The nut and saddle are laminated bone, Maple and Ebony. The 12-fret neck design puts the bridge right in the sweet spot of the lower bout for a rich and complex tonal range.
Gotoh 510 delta model machine heads are standard on all Kostal guitars, these are "Cosmo Black" with Ebony buttons. The Florentine cutaway allows access all the way up the fretboard.
The Kostal Two-Tone headstock in Maple and Ebony!
This guitar is everything I hoped it would be and more! It's incredibly responsive like Jason's OO and retains everything that I love about the Modified Dreadnought design. Check it out in action below.
The MDW model has officially joined the Kostal guitars lineup now and Jason is currently building a spectacular Manchinga model!
