Introducing, Luthier Focus

New Luthier: Jamie Swannell

Technically luthier Jamie Swannell has been on our roster for a few months now, but we've yet to formally announced him...until now!

We're just a month or so away from receiving our first guitars, so it's high time we shout it from the rooftops. It goes without saying that the UK-based builder behind Swannell Guitars can craft a gorgeous guitar, but he also has a uniquely dedicated focus on the use of sustainable, ethically sourced woods for his guitars. Not only is he a part of the Leonardo Guitar Research Project, which touts the merits of guitars built without tropical hardwoods, but he goes out of his way to use sustainable local woods, like Bramley apple and bog oak, or reclaimed woods from old buildings and more.

Jamie keeps his aesthetics clean and understated, putting all the focus on tone and timber. He currently offers three acoustic models, an MD, 00 and OM. We are so excited to be getting a Bramley apple and Italian spruce OM, and a rippled mahogany and Italian spruce 00 this July!

Jamie's behind the scenes photography and videos are just exquisite–take a look below. His workshop snapshot video is a calming, dreamy experience that combines woodworking, dulcet guitar tones, shallow depth of field, and close mic'ed sounds that will please any fans of ASMR videos!
