New Luthier: Maxmonte Guitars

We've had a couple of guitars in from him before, but now we're making it official and welcoming Massimiliano Monterosso of Maxmonte Guitars to the TNAG roster!

Tackling not just acoustic flattops but electrics and harp guitars as well, every Maxmonte guitar is handmade from start to finish. Though he uses many tried-and-true traditional techniques, like hide glue, hand-carved braces and hand-planed joints, his style and approach is distinctly modern, incorporating less common tonewoods and things like fan-frets, adjustable necks, bevels, and alternative bridge designs. His guitars push the envelope while being firmly rooted in lutherie tradition.

His acoustic offerings include the jumbo-sized Danube, the mid-sized Columbia (his most popular), the Thames which sits between a 00 and 000, and the small Roe tuned a fourth higher than a standard guitar.

He has a guitar that may come to us soon if he doesn't sell it at La Conner this weekend, otherwise we'll be spec'ing one out with him soon. He's also available for custom orders.

He is currently building a Columbia model in wenge and western red cedar for one of our Bespoke customers, and his diligent photo snapping allows us into the nitty-gritty of the whole build process. Check it out below!
