New McNally Guitars Arrive

Before establishing McNally Guitars, Ciaran McNally trained at both Belfast's Lagan Lutherie School and London Metropolitan University's College, prior to becoming Senior Craftsman at Lowden Guitars and then Production Manager at Atkin Guitars. It's safe to say Ciaran achieved lots in his early years, preparing and training him to work to the finest quality, creating responsive and versatile acoustic guitars. With a turnover of around 40 guitars a year, Ciaran has fine-tuned his process whilst maintaining the utmost attention to detail.

With 13 years of experience in building/learning about both Irish and American guitar styles, Ciaran has created an amalgamation of the two, finding the sweet spot in-between. Ciaran's process combines both traditional and modern techniques, but consistently encapsulates the warmth and complexity of a traditional, Celtic instrument.

This delivery included the McNally J22 model, which is a jumbo guitar featuring Walnut & Sitka Spruce. It also included the McNally P10, which is a Parlour instrument in all Mahogany. A beautiful S12 model completed this delivery, but it's already flown back out the TNAG door to a customer. But, we're really looking forward to receiving the McNally Shane Hennessy Signature OM model, later this month. You'll have to be quick though...

Find out more about all of these instruments below.

McNally J22 Acoustic Guitar, Walnut & Sitka Spruce

“This is a large guitar. When I say Jumbo, I mean Jumbo! With a guitar this size expect a wide reaching sound that envelopes the room. There’ll be more complexity and overtone richness than that of smaller guitars. The attack won’t be as immediate but it will develop richly with naturally reverb in abundance.
Walnut is beautiful wood that provides great clarity, but it also light in weight, so despite it’s size, this is quite a light guitar. Crisp figured maple bindings set against a simple purfling scheme, featuring red bloodwood, really set this one off.”- Ciaran McNally

McNally P10 Acoustic Guitar, All Mahogany

“This the 12 fret version of my S model. Expect a drier, bluesy ragtime tone from the mahogany top, with plenty of headroom for a small guitar. Also with a short scale but a chunkier 45mm  neck which I think is befitting of an all Mahogany Parlour. Quite a classic looking and feeling guitar, but just the right amount of modern from the McNally headstock and bridge.”- Ciaran McNally

McNally S12 Acoustic Guitar, Mahogany & Sitka Spruce- SOLD

“A classic and very versatile wood combination in a small but powerful package. The short scale and 43mm nut on this one will make it a perfect sofa-song writing companion. Simple wood purfling, bindings and rosette, make for a no frills but elegant, quality instrument. The mahogany really pops and flashes with the gloss finished body, while a satin back of neck keeps it smooth and fast in the left hand.”- Ciaran McNally
