Our Nik Huber Orca '59 Shines in Guitar Magazine Review!
We were all incredibly excited here at The North American Guitar for the return of our magnificent Nik Huber Orca '59 from the wonderful people at Guitar Magazine for two key reasons; firstly, we were deeply excited to find out what Chris and the team thought of what I can happily dub one of the finest single-cuts to grace our London Showroom. And secondly, perhaps more urgently, because we couldn't wait to have it back in close proximity and ready to plug in and let loose!
Praised for it's build quality and show-stopping aesthetics, the Exceptionally Curly Maple Top we spec'd with Nik was highlighted for its sensational figuring and finishing, with the "three-dimensional, near-holographic nature of the flame accentuated by the Faded Sunburst and deep dish carve".
In regards to the tonal nature of the instrument, the guitar was described as "alive with top-to-toe resonance but never brash, and there’s a long, even decay with swirling harmonics" when played unplugged, with "plenty of bass and mid-muscle along with clear, complex trebles" when plugged in.
The guitar came back to us having scored a sensational 9/10 in its review, with all due praise to the incredible work of Nik and his small team out near Frankfurt in Germany.

This beautiful instrument is a brand new, Nik Huber Orca '59 Model Electric Guitar in an exceptionally elegant Faded Sunburst Semi-Gloss Finish, and it has had us all floored since the first time that latches on the case were flipped.
Made up of Spanish Cedar for the body, with an upgraded 'exceptionally curly' two-piece maple top, this really is a stunning example of what Nik and his team are capable of doing with an iconic design and inspired custom appointments.
With a Mahogany neck and Rosewood fretboard, the guitar instantly feels like the singlecut electric you'd only previously dreamed of. With Nik's instantly recognisable and supremely comfortable chunky neck profile and impressively meticulous fretwork, the guitar plays as smooth as they come with heaps of fat, rich tones to back it up.
Speaking of which the guitar features a set of Haussel '59 Humbuckers, the final step in securing that magical 'golden era' tone while remaining versatile enough to cover most anything else you could think of, in part thanks to the wonderfully convincing coil tap on the neck pickup's tone control.
The guitar comes with a Nik Huber branded hardcase.
