Pick of the Week: Episode 8: Deimel Doublestars

Episode 8 of TNAG's Pick of the Week has new staffer Todd showing us around two Deimel Guitarworks Doublestars electric guitars--the RawTone Custom in Saturn Lavender, and the BoltTone Custom in Paper Moon White.

Deimel Guitarworks Doublestar RawTone Custom, Saturn Lavender - $4,645

Deimel Guitarworks Doublestar BoltTone Custom, Paper Moon - $3,880

When designing the Deimel Doublestar, the builders at Deimel set out to create something that combined the best features of two iconic guitars, while keeping the build simple, effective, and unique. One immediately notices the ergonomic LP Special body design, as well as the set Cedro neck, which sports a 59 LP profile with a 9.5”-12” compound radius. Looking closer, the S and T-style appointments begin to present themselves. Its 25.5” scale length leads to a string through Deimel designed Vibratone bridge, which combines a classic vibrato feel with the twang of brass saddles. Unplugged, the guitar is extremely resonant, which compliments the versatile tones of its McNelly pickups. The neck position sports a McNelly Duckling, which at its core possesses the deep lows and clear, glassy chime Strat neck pickups are known for, but in a T sized enclosure. The bridge pickup is a bonafide rock machine. Boasting a McNelly Soap Bar Cornucopia, the bridge is a P90 sized humbucker that is clear, organic, and airy, with a tight punch, just like a great PAF. For those looking for a modern build that captures the essence and spirit of the iconic guitars of yesteryear, look no further than the Deimel Doublestar.
