Build Thread: Incoming Skytop Grand Auditorium in Brazilian Rosewood & Bearclaw Sitka Spruce
We are really looking forward to receiving our fourth guitar from Eric Weigeshoff aka Skytop Guitars. This next arrival will be the sensational Grand Auditorium Model, featuring Brazilian Rosewood for the back and sides, paired with a bear claw Sitka Spruce top.
Coming from a design and film background, Eric is inspired to make instruments that are not only sonically grand but also visually compelling and unique.
Skytop's guitars forgo the traditional sound-hole and instead have two large sound ports on the upside of the guitar. This creates an immersive experience for the player, as the sound is directed directly towards the ear and the player themselves. That being said, the projection to the room is not at all hindered.
Eric sent us photos throughout the build process, read below to get an insight into Eric's unique build process and this sensational GA Model.
