Welcome Circa Guitars

It is hard to describe the joy all of us here at The North American Guitar get representing the luthiers we do, their craft, passion and dedication to each and every instrument is truly awe-inspiring. Over the course of the past 18 months, we have felt quite humbled to have been asked by many new (to TNAG) luthiers from around the world to represent them, something we take very seriously and feel rather honoured to announce.

Today it gives me great pleasure to announce that after many years of adoration for his work, we have now officially added John Slobod of Circa Guitars to The North American Guitar roster. John is without a doubt one of the finest luthiers in the world and to add him to our roster is incredibly exciting for all of us, as I hope it is you our customers.

John began his career in 1993 at the Timeless Instruments guitar building intensive in Moosejaw, Canada, after which he joined the legendary Dana Bourgeois (of Bourgeois Guitars) at Pantheon Guitars in Lewiston, Maine. At Pantheon, John was a major part of the build team where he hand-carved many necks, voiced hundreds of tops, and did the binding work and final voicing on almost 4000 guitars – yes that is 4000 guitars!! John left Bourgeois in 1998 and teamed up with Julius Borges and Eric Schoenberg, where he also began his own line of vintage ‘Martin’ inspired instruments using traditional materials and construction methods and here is where Circa Guitars was born.

John has worked with some of the finest guitarists in the world helping them to realize their own voice as musicians, including Tony McManus, Al Petteway, Steve Baughman, Stephen Bennett, Evan Hirschelman, Paul Asbell and the list goes on and on…

You can feel John's love of vintage instruments in everything he does, his guitars are powerful, fun to play and absolutely beautiful.
