Welcome Skytop Guitar

We’re extremely excited to welcome Skytop guitars to our roster of acoustic luthiers.

Eric Weigeshoff, aka skytop guitars, is known for building instruments that are not only sonically special, but unique and interesting aesthetically. Eric’s stand point for guitar design combines the influence of traditional builders with futuristic appointments, his time-tested methods create powerful yet player-focused guitars. Eric and I have been chatting for some time about getting his incredible guitars in our The North American Guitar showroom and onto the European market, we got to hang out at this years winter NAMM show in the Boutique Guitar Showcase section and decide to bring in two stunning instruments, one for the showroom and one being built as we speak!

Based in New York, Eric comes from a design and film background, as well as being a long-time rock climber. His passion for stone and the natural world around him influence the distinctive and stunning aesthetics of his instruments.
Skytop guitars forgo a traditional soundhole, instead featuring two ovular soundports on the side of the guitars, which direct the sound upwards. The result of this is that the sound is not guided away from the player and instead they are immersed 'in it'. Despite this, the forward projection of the instrument is in no way penalised. These guitars truly create a unique and organic playing experience, like no other.

We are excited to see the arrival of our first Skytop Guitar at The North American Guitar showroom, a Grand Concert model featuring impeccable 3000 Year-Old Ancient Sitka Spruce and Highly Quilted Sapele back and sides.
