Santa Cruz, California

Scott Walker builds high quality, beautiful electric guitars out of his Californian base workshop. These are exceptional instruments and Scott is held in high esteem by players and luthiers alike.

Scott began tinkering with electronics at an early age. In his early teens he began playing guitar and experimenting with pickups. Fifteen years later he found himself working alongside luthier Richard Hoover, of Santa Cruz Guitar Company, studying acoustic guitar construction. At Santa Cruz Guitar Company he hand carved over 1000 necks.

“Obsession to create is where I reside.”

Custom neck carving became his specialty. While mastering every aspect of neck construction he took on other responsibilities as the Shop Foreman. These included all phases of guitar construction, guitar finishing with Nitrocellulose, wood management and tool maintenance.  At this time he began developing an electric guitar for the 21st century. After meeting musician Barry Sless, he began to develop an instrument that had the broadest tonal range available. After five years he opened shop and offered his guitars to the public. During his pursuit to develop an electronic package to incorporate into these instruments, he began working with electronic wizards Peter Miller and John Cutler. The collaboration between Scott, John, Peter, Barry and Steve Kimock has opened the door to a variety of options now available on these instruments.

I am so lucky to be working with the North American Guitar. They deliver the highest quality guitar buying experience in the marketplace.  A genuine shop for heirloom quality instruments.

Scott's Notes

I spent 5 years setting neck and fitting dovetails while working at The Santa Cruz Guitar Company. This is where and when the idea of incorporating a Japanese style neck joint came to me. And 10 years later it has come to reality.

Santa Cruz

Scott's notes

The Santa Cruz is one of Scott Walker Guitars most versatile model. Like the waves at the famous California surf spot, the Santa Cruz is a thing of elegance, power and beauty. The comfortable balanced body encourages the player to forget the instrument is even there, channeling warm organic tone directly to the amp from the heart. The Santa Cruz has a slightly longer body than the Walker Special. It features an exotic top and mahogany back and neck. 25″ scale length,1 11/16th” nut and 12″ radius fingerboard. 24 frets and two humbucker size pickups.

Special

Scott's notes

The Walker Special comes in a few different forms. Solid body, Chambered, and chambered with a sound hole. Each of these twists are gone over when selecting woods and talking about tone. Because of the variables, The Special can be customized to you and your Rig, your tone and your music. Its smaller body and short scale make this a very friendly guitar to play.

Revelator

Scott's notes

This instrument is obviously inspired by the guitars built by Doug Irwin for Jerry Garcia. The Wolf and Tiger are two iconic instruments that have always inspired and crept into the design and features that are in many of the Walker guitars. The idea with the Revelator is to take both of those instruments and combine certain features, like the Ergonomics of the Wolf (outline, scale, pickup placement, strap button placement, etc) but with certain construction elements  that are prominent in the Tiger guitar (top carve and wood combo).
