  • Position Requirements:

    • Planning, directing and coordinating all accounting operational functions
    • Managing the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results
    • Coordinating and preparing financial statements
    • Providing management with information vital to the decision-making process
    • Assessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes
    • Evaluating accounting and internal control systems
    • Developing and monitoring business performance metrics including KPI reporting for management and external stakeholders
    • Hiring, training and retaining skilled accounting staff
    • Oversee preparation of monthly management accounts from QuickBooks, performing reconciliations and other checks to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial information
    • Manage company payments, accounts payable and cash control including multicurrency bank accounts
    • Prepare weekly detailed cash flow forecasts
    • Assist CFO with budgeting and forecasting
    • Day-to-day supervision of Accounting staff
    • Manage all company administrative duties relating to finance, HR and IT systems
    • Ensure compliance with company rules, policies and external regulations
    • Ad hoc tasks and projects as directed by the CEO/CFO including change initiatives and assisting/leading on implementation of new systems and processes (including help integrate acquisitions) 

    Skills & Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience and 10+ years of progressively responsible experience primarily in small to medium sized entrepreneurial/family businesses, preference given to PE-backed company experience.
    • CPA required
    • Strong analytical capabilities, an exceptional eye for detail, and ensuring accuracy while able to see the ‘bigger picture’. Comfortable interrogating detailed financial data to understand trends and anomalies
    • Comfortable with ambiguity and a dynamic environment
    • Previous experience working within a commercial facing role, ideally retail or eCommerce
    • Experience in recruiting, managing and mentoring a small finance team of 2-3 people
    • Fluent in English, excellent written ability, and solid communication skills
    • Experience using QuckBooks is strongly preferred but not essential
    • Excellent Excel skills including ability to work with, update and adapt integrated financial models
    • Familiar with managing more than one entity
    • Discrete, accurate, highly organized, proactive, confident, ability to work independently if required


    • Custodian – Driving focus on financial performance vs. plan and taking appropriate action to correct where required
      • Focuses on cost management and cash management (tight grip on Gross Contribution and Working Capital) 
      • Considers risks and opportunities to plan and analyses/presents these to the CEO/CFO
      • Cash-based mindset to ensure business moves towards a self-sustainable growth path  
      • Understands key levers the business can pull in the event of underperformance vs. plan to protect cash position 
    • Scorer – Delivering robust and accurate information to enable effective decision making 
      • Forward looking mentality and focused on accuracy/delivering forecasts 
      • Validates assumptions through detailed analysis (attention to detail) 
      • Provides sensitivity/scenario analysis to support budgeting/forecasting 
      • Presents clear reporting and analysis to enable strategic decision making (e.g. takes ownership of board pack presentation) 
    • Challenger – Ensuring a data driven approach is used to challenge strategic decision making  
      • Desire to drive process to lay foundation for strong finance function and improve efficiency/automation  
      • Provides a robust sounding board to CEO/CFO by challenging growth strategies from a financial perspective (confident/capable enough to form a view) 
      • Data-focused to drive objective/qualified decision making 
    • Business Partner – Working with the business to drive operational objectives whilst meeting financial targets 
      • Looks across the whole organization and helps drive departmental KPI focus 
      • Develops relationships and integrates with team members to provide data and deeper analysis on operations 
      • Holds departmental leads accountable for performance vs. budget
