If you're after a mahogany dreadnought in the Martin and Collings vein, then this John Allison D1 A Sunburst will be right up your alley. John Allison has been hand building guitars for over 35 years, and is now based in Austin, TX. While he also builds electrics and steel guitars, the luthier's primary focus is on acoustic guitars. This D1 with an upgraded Adirondack spruce top has all the rumbling, woody power you could ask for out of a D-18, with sparkling clarity across all registers. The current set up is excellent, and it plays wonderfully up and down the neck. There's a small amount of a play wear - light finish scratching from a pick under the strings, and some light marks on the back - but it's overall in very good condition.

  • Back and sides: Honduran mahogany
  • Neck: Mahogany
  • Fretboard: Ebony
