Details
This Bourgeois Large Soundhole OM is a wonderful example of Dana Bourgeois' approach to lutherie. The identity of this instrument begins with its traditional OM body shape, spec'd out with a lovely set of Madagascar rosewood for the back and sides, and Aged Tone Adirondack spruce for the top. Bourgeois' unique Aged Tone finish is their attempt to replicate the tonal and aesthetic properties of older nitro finishes. Though it takes longer, we think the end result is well worth it. This is a guitar that plays and sounds like a much older instrument, with all the benefits of being modern-made. The Large Soundhole design makes for a very crisp and clear tone that the guitar positively launches out when played with a flatpick, while being very responsive to fingerstyle playing, and certainly not lacking in low end frequencies. Overall, it's a delightful variation on the classic OM design, and comes with additional vintage appointments, like a back-of-headstock logo, Waverly relic tuners, ivoroid binding and herringbone purfling.
We sold this guitar back in the spring, and we're delighted to have it back again. It remains in as new condition, with its original hard case.
