Since the beginning of Leo Buendia’s journey in Buenos Aires, Argentina he has cherished a deep rooted belief in musicality and craftsmanship, and this masterfully built Jumbo Cutaway model exemplifies that passion. After years of honing his craft in Argentina, Buendia set off to Oakland, CA to apprentice under the renowned Ervin Somogyi for 40 months to specialize in the construction of high-end steel string acoustic guitars. While Leo Buendia’s teacher’s influences shine through in each of his instruments, he repeatedly builds totally unique one-of-a-kind custom guitars with the depth of sound, and immediate response that is sought after by professional musicians and guitar players around the world.

This particular Jumbo Cutaway is constructed with a Swiss Alpine Moon Spruce top, and Old Growth Master Grade Flitch Match “Vania” back and sides. This wood combination, paired with the nature of this guitar’s Jumbo design, creates a large, powerful, and harmonically rich voice while still capturing the most minute subtleties and nuances of all playing styles. Leo Buendia’s innate attention to detail shines through all over this instrument, from the hand-carved peghead veneer, rosette, and end graft, to its beautiful cutaway design, and everywhere in between. Its jaw-dropping aesthetic appeal is only the introduction to this guitar’s playability, feel, and tonality. Its dynamic response, touch sensitivity, effortless playability, and harmonic resonance make this instrument more than just a boutique instrument. This Buendia Jumbo Cutaway is an experience.
