Details
This CF Holcomb Kodiak model is one of two first arrivals from Chris Holcomb in California!
The Kodiak is unique to the resonator world in the sense that it is built like an acoustic guitar. The top and back have a radius and the sides are tapered just like an acoustic guitar. The radiused top is the key to solving most of the issues with traditional resonators which are really built more like a speaker cabinet rather than a guitar.
With the two-degree neck angle, the action can be much lower and more consistent. Chris builds the necks backward (from the heal up) to guarantee that the intonation is right every time. The radius also allows him to make the top and back much thinner which allows the instrument's tone to be influenced by the tonewood used. The Kodiak has a 25.5" scale length and comes with a custom made Righteous Sound single-coil pickup, Rubner Tuners, and all brass hardware.
