Details
A truly special instrument, the Collings Clarence White was only made between 1989 and 2000. Based on the legendary 1935 Martin D-28 that was revived by Clarence, and eventually made its way to Tony Rice, this Collings CW-28 is a flatpicker's dream. Crafted with a premium Adirondack spruce top, and Brazilian rosewood back and sides, this CW has the presence, sustain, and resonance one would expect from a Collings dread. The enlarged sound hole, unique to the historical Martin that served as inspiration for the Collings CW model, gives this CW a wide open, raw sound, with a pleasing and musical mid-range warmth. With its herringbone purfling, pre-war scalloped x-bracing, Dalmatian pickguard, and ivoroid body binding, this Collings Clarence White 28 is the perfect blend of modern style with vintage tone. This 1996 model is in incredibly clean, excellent condition, having been very well-kept over the years.
