Affectionately named after the beloved Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield, Kansas, the Collings Winfield takes their standard dreadnought and highly modifies it to suit the needs and desires commonly requested by flatpicking specialists. This bluegrass powerhouse boasts a Honduran Mahogany back and sides, as well as an Adirondack Spruce top. These hand voiced tone woods, matched with its enlarged soundhole and pre-war bracing pattern, give this dreadnought plenty of headroom and projection, even when played aggressively, while never sacrificing tone. Its hand sanded nitrocellulose lacquer finish complements these tonal characteristics by allowing the guitar to breathe and reach its full tonal potential. These features, paired with its vintage inspired appointments, make this Collings Winfield an obvious choice for bluegrass professionals looking to cut through the mix.
