Details

First designed in Hawaii nearly a century ago, this Collings DS2H is a direct nod to the original 12-fret dreadnought design. Collings preserved the shape, wide neck, and slotted headstocks from the forefathers of the dreadnought, while pushing this guitar into the present with a voice and feel all its own. The nature of its longer body, with the bridge closer to the center of the lower bout, creates an open, airy tone with smoothness and warmth not typically found in modern, 14-fret dreadnoughts. Its Torrefied Sitka Spruce top, and East Indian Rosewood back and sides, allow this guitar to retain touch sensitivity and responsiveness, while maintaining its innate large-body roar. Collings’ meticulous hand-sanding, hand-voicing, and modified-V neck profile give this Collings DS2H a level feel, comfortability, and tonal versatility for flatpickers and fingerstyle players alike.
