Details
Before he had his own signature model, beloved fingerstyle guitarist Pete Huttlinger commissioned this one in the early 2000s. This mahogany and Adirondack spruce OM, with a Venetian cutaway to open up access to the higher frets, has all the honest, warm, and responsive tone you'd expect from a great Collings that's been played in by a legend. Its overall condition and playability are excellent, with almost no sign of fret wear. A stray finish ding can be found here and there, and there's a little thumb/pick wear over the bass strings, and some hazing in the finish on the bass side lower bout. All minor tributes to a life well-lived in the studio and on the road.
This guitar is outfitted with a Rich Barbera transducer pickup using a Baggs pre-amp (installed by the current owner, not by Pete).
Of note: Pete recorded his entire 2006 album The Santa Rita Connection on this guitar, which included a tune written for TNAG's Kim Sherman. It brings back a lot of memories for Kim, having this guitar in the showroom. There will never be another Pete.
