Details
Detroit builder Gabriel Currie has been refining the design of his vintage-meets-modern La Carne electric for decades, through close and careful work with inspiring musicians. All of his instruments are handcrafted and custom built with a variety of options available, but this particular Case Study La Carne has a beautiful Wenge top and a solid slab body and neck of beautifully striped, dark grain old stock Korina. Though this African tonewood can be hard to come by and difficult to work with, it's described as "super mahogany" and has long been prized for its responsiveness and sustain. This La Carne was outfitted with a custom-spec Echo Park "Rosebird" mini-humbucker (neck) and '57 humbucker (bridge), giving an almost single coil-esque snap and chime in the neck position but plenty of snarl and beef in the bridge, as well as a super sweet and unique middle position when used in combination. Gabriel put a lot of blood, sweat, and tears into this La Carne and the result is, in his words, "a living, breathing multi-dimensional tool for the artists and players who know and demand vintage soul, feel, character and tone."
