Made in 1951 in Epiphone’s New York factory, this 16” mini-jumbo Epiphone FT-79 is a seldom seen model from Epiphone’s pre-Gibson era. Sporting a flat solid spruce top, with solid maple sides, and a laminate arched maple back, this FT-79 has a strong, clear, and full tone. With a scale length of 25 5/8”, this guitar rewards a player with a powerful, throaty rumble that remains focused and tight in the bass and lower mids. With plenty of volume to drive a band, and very natural feeling playing dynamics, this rare 1951 Epiphone FT-79 is truly a hidden gem.
