The Fender Custom Shop David Gilmour Signature Stratocaster Relic is a six-string electric guitar produced for Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour.
This relic guitar is the perfect instrument for the Gilmour fan, accurately recreating the design, appointments and appearance of David's signature black Strat. Fender worked closely with Gilmour and his longtime guitar tech Phil Taylor to ensure that this relic signature stays true to the original instrument.
The Strat features a Select Alder body with a maple neck and fingerboard in a 1983 thin shouldered 'C' (.790" to .870") shape, decorated with 21 Vintage-style frets and black dot inlays.
In the electronics department, the Gilmour Signature Strat features a Seymour Duncan SSL-5 single-coil Strat pickup at the bridge, a Custom-Would single-coil in the middle position and a Custom Shop Fat '50s single-coil at the neck. This incredible combination is what sculpts the signature Gilmour tone, as heard on Wish You Were Here, The Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall, as well as David's critically-acclaimed 2006 solo album On An Island.
The Gilmour Relic Strat features an American Vintage Synchronised Tremolo with Custom Bevelled Tremolo block and the shortened tremolo arm that was David's preference.
As the Relic name suggests, this guitar is finished in black with all of the same blemishes and customisations as David's own guitar, right down to the patched up XLR output and the groove left by the previously-used Kahler bridge.
This guitar is in an outstanding condition, with the Relic finish preserved perfectly.
