Visiting Mike Lewis' workshop in Paris was a complete education. To see resonator guitars being made entirely by hand (even spinning the aluminium cones!) was fascinating to say the least. Then I played a guitar that broke my heart. This glorious Dobro model responded like a fine flat-top. I since compared notes about this guitar with Michael Messer and he agrees, this is a design that just works...
