Details

Ohio-based builder Ryan Gerber comes to lutherie as a consummate fingerstyle player, with a love of articulate, melody-driven arrangements, and a focus on tone and playability above all else. The numbers in his model names refer to the lower bout measurement, which in this case is 15 inches. He no longer makes the RL15, having shifted his focus to the more 00-like RL14.5. This RL15 is comparable in size to a Martin OM, with a little added depth, and a modern Florentine cutaway. Ryan doesn't pick favorites when it comes to back and sides woods, instead carefully searching out and choosing the best he can find. In this case, lightweight Nicaraguan rosewood was chosen for its resonant richness. Ryan's favorite top wood may be Swiss spruce, but he makes excellent use of this Adirondack, too, capitalizing on its clear, articulate tone. Like of all his guitars, it's at its best played fingerstyle, but is certainly up to the task of flatpicking, as well.

The pre-owned 2018 model came to us with a notable cosmetic dent in the neck, but it has been filled and sanded over, as well as professionally set up. Otherwise, this guitar is in excellent condition, and comes in its original hardshell Ameritage case.
