Details
The LG series guitars from Gibson first made their appearance in the 1940s, presenting a smaller-bodied alternative to the larger J series models. The LG-3 (as well as the sunburst LG-2) is a spruce and mahogany guitar, built with straight X bracing, resulting in a balanced, focused tone that folks describe as being "like a mini J-45". This 1958 model sports the larger pickguard that became standard after 1955. You can see finish crazing on the top, as well as a couple scattered dings. There is evidence of a repaired crack in the back, and though it's been oversprayed, it remains very responsive and lively. The LG-3 was and is still a fantastic strummer and fingerstyle guitar, and an excellent choice in the studio.
