Details

California based luthier Isaac Jang has quickly risen up in the ranks of the guitar-making world. One strum of this very special "The Tree" OM, and it's not hard to see (or hear) why. Isaac's wood-centric approach lead him to a combination of legendary "The Tree" mahogany--that's mahogany harvested from a fallen 500-year-old tree in Belize that is famous for its combination of mahogany and rosewood-like tonal characteristics--with Italian alpine spruce.

He's borrowed some elements from other lauded luthiers, most notably, the cutaway. Originated by Japanese builder Mitsuhiro Uchida, Isaac calls it a "bendaway". He says, "The idea is to use the minimum amount of space from the guitar's body, to still have access to the upper frets, but without losing too much of the body or extra volume." In addition to that, he employs the Manzer Wedge, learned from fellow luthier Linda Manzer. The body is a little thinner at the top than at the bottom, achieving both volume and ergonomic comfort.

All in all, this is an extraordinary OM, both for its fine tonewoods and for Isaac's careful, creative craftsmanship. It remains in excellent, near-mint condition.
