Details

Here is a piece of music history as well as a sensational acoustic guitar - a Lowden O-38 built in 1996, owned and played by Eric Clapton at the 1997 Grammy awards in his acoustic performance of 'Change The World' with Babyface.

This guitar was then sold by Christie's as part of the 2004 Crossroads auction to the current owner.

The guitar was originally a gift from Paul Brady to Eric Clapton, and he used it extensively through the recording of the 'Pilgrim' album, as well as the aforementioned performance at the 39th Grammy awards ceremony at Madison Square Garden on 26th February 1997.

The Lowden O-38 was handmade in Ireland and features a gorgeous set of Brazilian rosewood for the back and sides bound in boxwood with a red cedar top. The mahogany neck is topped by an ebony fingerboard with pearl inlays, and the top is decorated with an abalone rosette and purfling.

The guitar is in excellent condition and includes the original hard shell case complete with adhesive tape inscribed by Eric's guitar tech Lee Dickson with the words 'Auction #42 / Lowden O-38'.

Eric said about this guitar, "It's a beautiful guitar - great tone...look at the wood - it's fabulous wood. This was used all the way through 'Pilgrim' on every track virtually."

This guitar is being sold via our 'Sell From Home' service and is located with the seller in the UK.
