There’s a reason that the sound of a pre-war Martin 000-18 continues to champion countless competitors to this day after nearly 100 years. This 1939 model delivers the woody tone, depth, and clarity that has allowed the 000-18 to withstand the test of time.
While the 000-18 isn’t one of Martin’s rarest offerings, and originally was surprisingly one of their cheaper models in the 1930’s, the 000-18 has never lacked inspiration, craftsmanship, and quality. This 1939 000-18 delivers only the most sought after appointments of a pre-war Martin instrument with its Mahogany back and sides, scallop-braced Adirondack Spruce top, rear X-bracing, and a 1-3/4" nut width.
We have recently had our in-house luthier put great care towards breathing new life into this guitar after its 80 years of being well-loved and well used. We have reset the neck, glued all cracks, and re-glued the bridge, leaving this guitar in incredible playing condition with great feel and action, and ready for the next 80 years.
Kim's notes: This is a player's guitar, not a collector's guitar. It shows wear and has had its share of top cracks repaired, including the center seam and one by the end of the fretboard. There's quite a bit of finish gone from the back of the neck, so you can rest assured it's been loved and played. :) This guitar comes with a more recent case (arched top). Feel free to ask for an in-hand description of this wonderful 000-18.
