Martin 1949 D-28 Shade Top, Brazilian Rosewood & Sitka Spruce - Pre-Owned
While the sweeter sounding dreadnoughts of the 1930s may have been the start of Martin’s golden age, it is the 1940s that are responsible for their instruments of pure power. And here we have an absolute beauty from 1949, topped with Martin's Shade Top finish. Unlike Gibson, Martin didn't do sunburst finishes on their guitars as often, making these vintage Shade Tops harder to come by. Though the rear-shifted non-scalloped bracing delivers up some nice focus and power, the Sitka and Brazilian combo still gives you plenty of warmth and sensitivity, as Carl proves in the demo video.
