Details

Swedish luthier Lars Rasmussen's guitars combine classic, familiar shapes and sizes with simple Scandinavian beauty. He builds four models, the largest of which is the Model S - a small dreadnought with cutaway. This pre-owned 2018 S is no typical spruce and mahogany guitar, though. This unique dread has back and sides of reclaimed ferry skiff mahogany - quite an unusual history for a guitar! The wood plugs where different pieces were once joined together have been sanded cleanly, making it look like one piece of wood that just has some very unusual figuring (inside, very thin pieces of wood between the braces also reinforce those spots). With alpine spruce on top, the tone is balanced and clear, with a relatively tight bass, strong midrange, and crisp high end. It is exactly as Lars intended - a versatile guitar that is equally suited to fingerstyle and strumming. The small cutaway dreadnought size will delight folks who love the sound of a modified dreadnought but find the size a bit cumbersome. Overall condition and playability are excellent.
