The Custom D is Santa Cruz's take on the iconic Dreadnought model, with the powerful high-headroom response and substantial low end one would expect, coupled with a touch more detail and balance than most traditional style builds.
In Mahogany and Adirondack, the makeup of this gorgeous instrument couldn't be more classic, only accentuated by the grade of the tone woods in question. The Mahogany sports charming figuring down the centre with Abalone detailing in the top, rosette and fretboard lending an elegance to the instrument amidst its solid, workhorse feel.
Sonically, there is of course a wealth of volume and projection to the guitar, with a subtle blend of vintage and contemporary voicing that makes for a deeply versatile instrument. What really sets apart the SCGC Custom D is the balance and clarity across the midrange and trebles, working with the rich bass response to produce a full and rounded tone that will easily drive a mix.
The playability is of course superb, with an immediacy to the left-hand feel that makes for a very engaging guitar to play. The 1 11/16" nut width makes for a comfortable and easy platform for chord voicings and lead lines and all through the board the guitar remains lively and precise.
