Details
SS Stewart was a major builder of guitars and banjos in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Though they initially produced instruments themselves, by the 1920s and 1930s makers like Chicago Musical Instruments, Martin and Gibson were producing many of the guitars that would go under the SS Stewart name. This 1931 Adirondack spruce and mahogany model comes out of the Gibson era, modeled after the L-1, so it should come as no surprise that it has many of the tonal characteristics and the feel of a vintage Gibson. It's incredibly lightweight with a punchy, woody sound, and is perfectly set up and ready to play. The bridge, which is original, was recently repaired and reglued by our tech. It has the cosmetic wear and tear you'd expect from a 90-year-old guitar, but nothing else was disclosed to us by the seller. Feel free to reach out for an in-hand description!
