Though the model may be discontinued now, Taylor chose well in putting a 12-string guitar in their maple and Sitka spruce 600 series. The bright, chimey high end that maple provides, balanced against Sitka's warmth and balance, makes for a lush and well-blended double-string sound. It's perfect for capturing that big 60s folk/country sound and creating a wall of accompaniment. Taylor's Grand Symphony body size is large but not unwieldy, and the 1-7/8" nut width is easy to adapt to for six-string players. Given its excellent condition, it's hard to believe this 656ce is 20 years old. The previous owner cared for it and played it in well, but did swap out the original Taylor Expression System pickup for an LR Baggs pickup with volume control knob.
