This is yet another truly sensational pre-owned R Model non cutaway from the one and only Santa Cruz-based master luthier Jeff Traugott.
Built in a one of the rarest sets of "Kentucky" Brazilian Rosewood & German Spruce, this instrument is a true master piece.
"This "Kentucky" Brazilian was felled in Brazil in the 1800's and shipped to the US in 1900 & 2920's and now one of the most sort after tonewood in the world. This particular stash found its way into the veneer mills in Knoxville, Tennessee. The process of slicing the veneers left beautiful offcuts called dog boards named for the tool that held the logs into place. Some of the dog boards sized 4" thick x 24" wide x 10" plus in length were sold to college teachers and a woodworker called Rude Osolnik. I was able to purchase some of this wood when rude was around 82 years old. The fact that this old growth wood was repourposed is incredibly special" - Jeff Traugott.
The guitar is in absolutely in mint condition and like new. It has an immaculate string-to-string balance that lets the voice ring out in true clarity with a beautifully smooth and glassy playability up and down the fretboard.
The Brazilian Rosewood rings out like a church bell with a rich and lush presence in the mids and low end. A perfectly well balanced, versatile and articulate instrument.
All in all this is a rather rare and exciting opportunity to own an instrument from one of America’s finest luthiers.
