Ben Wilborn's Comma Series guitars are a thoroughly modern and innovative approach to guitar design. Familiar sizes are given compelling names. This Arum model is comparable to a 14-fret 00-size guitar, but with this host of features, it's got a voice all its own. With an offset soundhole on the upper bout, the player gets the benefits of having a soundport, while the unique placement allows for a longer expanse of top wood to vibrate. Underneath, a radially braced top accommodates the multiscale design, as well as allowing the top to vibrate more freely. Fingerstylists will appreciate the elevated fingerboard, which not only creates more complex overtones due to the change in angle at which the strings meet the bridge, but also give the right hand fingers more clearance above the soundboard. The ever so slight multiscale design gives the player the benefits of "the deepy brassy growl of a long-scale bottom end, and couples it with the sweet fatness of a short-scale treble." Last but not least, a dramatic Florentine cutaway and arm bevel make the player's experience even better.

And that's all to say nothing of the tonewoods or sound of this guitar. Warm, balanced, and responsive Sitka spruce forms the top, an ideal choice for fingerstyle or other players with a lighter touch. A dramatically sap-lined set of Brazilian rosewood forms the back and sides, providing dark bass, clear trebles, and unbelievable sustain.
