Details

Working out of her shop in California, Wingert Guitars is a one-woman operation run by Kathy Wingert. Wingert is celebrated for the sonic and constructional artistry of her modern acoustic builds, of which she only makes 10 or fewer per year. This Wingert FVC Baritone Multiscale is a pristine example of the high quality, innovative design one can expect from a Wingert guitar. Its multiscale design, ranging from 25.5” on the treble side and 27.2” on the bass side, makes this FVC Baritone an obvious choice for fingerstyle players who enjoy playing in open and altered tunings. The Sitka Spruce top and Cocobolo back and sides give this baritone a warm and velvety tone that has smooth trebles, with complex overtones, and a balanced bass and midrange. Kathy strives for a “cello like” tone in her builds and achieves this by hand voicing and tuning her tonewoods and braces by ear, occasionally using Chladni patterns to verify her work, as well as using hide glue and nitrocellulose lacquer on almost all of her builds. Its tonal complexity is complemented by its intricate wood rosette, and Maple and Ebony purfling, making this Wingert just as gorgeous to look at as it is to listen to. These features, paired with its ergonomic fanned fret and cutaway design, make the Wingert FVC Baritone Multiscale perfect for those looking for a high quality, innovative, and versatile modern instrument.
